I fell on the ice in Vermont and broke my elbow. Not a very exciting story and one quickly forgotten except for the minor inconveniences of being temporarily one armed. However I've been trying to be the observer of my existence lately and so I didn't get too involved with the story of having a broken arm and all I could not do and instead set my intention to heal fully at the pace my body needed. I went on with my life and watched. My yoga classes were blessedly full the week after my accident and I found myself teaching instead of doing yoga and I learned the value of not doing. I found my students were able to fully own the practice when they did not have me to watch and by watching take them out of their own bodies and experience. It is by keeping our eyes closed and truly taking all attention deep within one's being that Kundalini helps us grow in awarenss and grace. We learn to understand through compassion our own human condition and forgive ourselves. I know that everything that happens happens for us and now to us, it is a benevolent universe. Dwell in God and befriend your soul. If you live in a world you preceive to be lacking in peace, be peaceful. If your world is devoid of love, act lovingly.
Love, light and peace to all,
Sat Nam,
Trish

New Year New Beginning

What a great opportunity the new year gives us to break free of the restrictive patterns of thought and behaviour that so many of us fall into. New Years gives us the opportunity and in some cases the excuse to pause for some much needed contemplation allowing us to question our thoughts and our behaviour, especially those negative thoughts that make us so unhappy and lead us to self destruct or self sabotage or just plain misery. It is at times like this that we have the opportunity to grow, to learn the life lessons uniquely our own or we can smother or avoid our true selves with more food/alcohol/sex/drugs/exercise/work, you choose. Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness and to make the changes in our lives we need to be happy, to come home to ourselves, we must embrace and acknowledge all that we are right now. We do this with love, kindness and compassion for the human beings we are, showering our human selves with quantum forgiveness. As Yogi Bhajan said we are spiritual beings having a human experience and to use another famous quote "to err is human, to forgive divine".
I am eternally grateful to Yogi Bhajan for teaching us this ancient science, this coping mechanism of self realisation and it is with great joy that I continue to share these teachings. If you haven't yet taken a Kundalini class I invite you to not believe a word I say but to come have an experience that will lead you to your birthright.
"Happiness is your birthright" YB
Much love, light and prosperity,Sat nam,
Trish
